Buying a home can be a long and drawn out process, especially when you’re unprepared. Let’s face it, what you are looking for may not be available at the time you decide to begin your search. There are, however, a couple of things you can do to shorten the buying process once you’ve found that perfect home.

Agent selection is extremely important. Your Real Estate agent is going to be your best friend over the next couple of months and hopefully beyond. A good place to start is by calling our featured agent. Before signing anything that an agent gives you, take some time to get to know the agent. It is imperative that you like your agent and that you and your agent have similar interests. It will make communicating much easier and will help to relieve many of the stresses that accompany buying a home.

Secondly, contact a financial institution and get pre-qualified for your mortgage loan. Your mortgage broker will tell you exactly how much of a house you can afford, how much of a down payment you will need (if any) and how much your monthly payments will be. Waiting until you have found a house in order to secure financing could turn out to be a big disappointment when you find out that your lender will not back you. Take care of your financing on the front end and save yourself some time and possible aggravation!

Remember that in the Real Estate business, time is of the essence. You must be ready to make an offer the minute that you have found your dream home. Waiting even a day could result in a missed opportunity. Properties tend to sell quickly in South Florida and often times sellers are presented with multiple offers. By having your finances in order and making certain that you are represented by a hard working and sincere Real Estate agent, you are increasing the odds that you will be able to look forward to an enjoyable and hassle-free home buying experience.
